The AI Content Suggestions Engine is the heart of Sage SEO. It uses custom AI models, Google Search Console data, and your client's own website content to recommend high-impact blog article ideas — so you can focus more on writing and less on guesswork.

This guide walks you through how the Suggestions Engine works, how to manage article ideas, and how to build out a full content calendar using AI.

1. What the AI Suggestions Engine Does

  • Analyzes your client's home page and company overview

  • Pulls live keyword data from Google Search Console

  • Suggests article topics based on real SEO signals

  • Helps you build and schedule a 6+ month content calendar in minutes

2. Getting Your First Article Ideas

When you first open the AI Suggestions Engine, you’ll see a blank board. Here's how to get started:

  • Click Get Article Ideas

  • Sage SEO's AI will analyze:

    • Your client’s website homepage

    • Their company overview

    • Current search rankings (from GSC data)

  • Within seconds, you’ll see an initial batch of 15 article suggestions populate.

Your available suggestions depend on your AppSumo tier or plan level.

3. Managing Suggestions: Accepting, Rejecting, and Replacing

Once suggestions appear:

Action
What Happens

Click the + (Add)

Moves the article into your "Unscheduled" queue and replaces it with a new suggestion.

Click the X (Reject)

Removes the suggestion and instantly replaces it with a new idea.

Drag-and-Drop

You can also simply drag suggestions into the Unscheduled section.

Every accepted article reduces your "Remaining Suggestions" count until you exhaust the batch.

4. Creating a Content Calendar with AI

After selecting article ideas:

  • Click Create Article Schedule

  • Choose:

    • How many times per week you want to publish (ex: 1x/week)

    • Weekly or monthly cadence

    • Which day(s) of the week you prefer to publish (ex: Mondays)

Once saved, Sage SEO will automatically generate a posting schedule for the next six months, populating slots on the correct days.

Each publishing slot corresponds with your desired cadence.

5. Scheduling and Organizing Your Articles

To assign articles to your schedule:

  • Drag articles from the Unscheduled list into open Calendar slots

  • Or click Schedule for Month and choose a target month

  • As you schedule articles:

    • Slots fill up visually

    • You see the target publish date automatically assigned

    • Articles will display in the correct weekly order

You can easily drag-and-drop articles between months or reorder them within a month to adjust priorities.

6. Managing and Editing Articles

After an article is scheduled:

Option
What You Can Do

Edit Title/Content

Open the article directly to adjust ideas before writing.

Track Status

Monitor article progress from Unscheduled → Draft → Published.

Delete Articles

Remove scheduled or unscheduled articles anytime if plans change.

Monitor Completion

See how many articles you've created vs. how many slots you need to fill per month.

The platform automatically updates your publishing progress: Example — "3/4 articles created" for April, "1/1" for May, etc.

7. Notes on Publishing & Advanced Features

  • A Published Articles view is coming soon, allowing you to track live published posts and performance.

  • Future updates will allow even deeper AI-assisted writing tools layered into your workflows.

8. Common Questions

Q: What if I run out of AI suggestions? A: Request another batch. Each account has a set monthly refresh based on your tier.

Q: Can I skip scheduling and just save ideas? A: Yes. You can keep articles in the Unscheduled section until you’re ready.

Q: Can I manually edit an article's publish date? A: Yes. After scheduling, you can drag articles between months or adjust within a month.
